Presenting “Reaching for the Stars”

Created for the FIFA World Cup 2010, ‘Reaching for the Stars’ is one of the rarest football inspired oil-based paintings in the world, making this auction a very unique opportunity to own a piece of FIFA history.

The physical piece is 120cm wide by 160cm tall, and will be shipped to the buyer anywhere in the world at no extra cost. Alternativley the piece can be stored in its current location by a world-leading Swiss art custodian.

This is the only artwork in the Victory Works collection up for auction, with the others pieces held by FIFA and UEFA themselves.

About the artist David Pflugi

David Pflugi is a world-renowned artist, born in 1969 near Laufen, Switzerland. His unique and highly unusual style of art has garnered him international attention. Notable works include the “Victory Works”, five works of art created for the FIFA World Cups of 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 in collaboration with FIFA.

In addition, David received international media attention in 2009 for two performances held at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece and at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany. In Frankfurt, he is known as the creator of the artwork ‘Space of Time’ which is a permanent architectural feature at the main entrance to the Commerzbank Tower.

You can find David’s work exhibited in Berlin, Basel, New York City, Frankfurt and Cannes.

About the Victory Works Collection

The ‘Victory Works’ collection, consists of a series of artworks which have been signed by all of the players from teams who’ve participated in every FIFA World Cup final since 1998. The ‘Victory Works’ are the only objects to ever be signed by all players participating in a World Cup final.

The collection bears the signatures of such legends as Zinédine Zidane, Ronaldinho, Fernando Torres, Lionel Messi, Luka Modrić, Kylian Mbappé, and of many others.
